We have been recording extensive logs in our system for the past few months. After reviewing a portion of these logs, we noticed that there was a significant amount of false notifications about hosts going down followed immediately by restore notifications. As a result we have revised some of the logic and added more testing routines to confirm that the monitored host is actually down prior to sending the notifications. We strongly believe this will decrease the false notification frequency to a minimum; however, more logging will have to be done to see it for a fact.
This update had no effect on the time it takes for notification to be sent out which is great!
