If your SQL server is exposed to the public internet our system should be able to ping it with no problem. In most cases, however, SQL servers are behind a router/firewall as it is very insecure to expose an SQL server to the public.
To monitor servers that are behind a router/firewall you can use our Local Pinger which can be downloaded from the Control Panel. There is also a User Guide available on the Control Panel which will can help you in deploying the Local Pinger in your network.
